THE DEMON INSIDE

The ancient demon's cave on a Saturday night,
None bothered to check if the latch was still there.
They were busy enjoying the night as all
Should spend saturday nights..
Mugs of beer..
Guffaws and tears...
Beer apparently has female hormones,
But that didn't stop them from enjoying lap-dances,
Especially the fictional ones...

It wasn't until quarter past one
That somebody sounded the alarm,
That of caution or of an impending massacre
Was confused in a cacophony of paranoid cries and
Panic-stricken wails...
They stumbled towards the source of the trouble,
With trembling legs...
No one knew if it was the beer or a pint of fear
Making their march go wrong.

To the gallows they marched,
Or to keep out the devil, wasn't clear.
They weren't sure of that... not surprisingly!
They searched the cave, they searched the town,
To find the well-known unknown...
But in vain..

Gladly, night escaped back in the wombs of the sun,
And with the drink left the dread inside,
Alongwith the blinding darkness.

They laughed at the darkness in their hearts,
How foolish they were, to fear, to believe, to respect,
The old story of a demon locked in the cave..

Little did they know,
That the demon wasn't locked
In an enchanted cell, waiting to break free!

The demon was in their hearts,
Restrained till now, by the fear that dwelt...

But now, at long last, the demon was free...
Or was it that they were free???
